The Greek sculpture garden

Five distinct digital exhibits accompany the twelve Olympians. The collection includes scans, digital models and later casts or copies of ancient works. It does not claim that every scanned object is the ancient original.

Nike of Samothrace

Photogrammetric scan of a small modern replica of the Hellenistic Winged Victory.

Model: nazzarenogiannelli. Source record and original files · CC-BY-4.0.

Scaled, recentered and converted to a compact mesh; original textures replaced by a museum marble material.

Socrates

Digital bust from the interactive book The Parthenon in 3D.

Model: kostaskatsulis. Source record and original files · CC-BY-4.0.

Geometry simplified to at most 120,000 triangles, scaled, recentered, converted to a compact mesh; original textures replaced by a museum marble material.

Discobolus

Scan of a cast in the Royal Cast Collection, Copenhagen, after the Roman copy of the Greek Discobolus type. The head is a later restoration.

Architecture and inscriptions

The fluted shafts, Doric echinus and abacus, Ionic volutes, and Corinthian acanthus capitals are newly modelled interpretations based on the Acropolis Restoration Service’s guide to Greek columns. They are not scans or archaeological reconstructions of a specific temple. Wall letters form a modern display of the 24-letter Greek alphabet, not a transcription of an ancient inscription.

Mineral and steel

One contemporary virtual study relocated from the Golden Hall. An original composition, not an ancient Greek artefact.
